Kaitlyn Lemon, NASA EarthRise Partnerhsips Specialist & Trainer will lead two training sessions at NACD's Summer Meeting. This is the second training session offered.
Participants should have either attended the first session: NASA Satellite Earth Observation Resources and Tools to Support Conservation Districts or have prior experience working with GIS software. This is a two-hour, introductory, in-person training that will provide an overview of NASA Earth observation data access and download through Earthdata and AppEEARS. Participants will explore applications of analysis-ready data products to derive vegetation and water indices within common GIS software. Demos and exercises will provide hands-on learning applications for calculating common indices, such as Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), for agricultural applications such as crop and forestry health and watershed management. Participants should plan to attend the entire two-hour workshop and bring laptops to participate in provided hands-on exercises.
